Sharing and members

Bring other people in: add colleagues as members, or make a link so anyone can ask questions.

Daneshyar is not just for you. There are two ways to let other people ask a workspace's files questions: make them members, or turn on the public link. Only the workspace owner can do either.

Workspace page → the Members or Share button at the top. On a phone, both are inside the ⋯ menu.

Which one should I use?

Both lead to the same workspace. The difference is who gets in, and how:

  • Members: for a few named colleagues who have a Daneshyar account. Each one asks with their own credits, and you can take away one person's access whenever you want.
  • Public link: for a large or anonymous group — for example the students in a class, or a shop's customers. No sign-up needed, and you pay for the questions.

Add colleagues as members

A member is someone with a Daneshyar account whom you have added to this workspace.

  1. 1

    Press Members

A list opens of everyone who can open this workspace, with their access level.

  2. 2

Enter a phone number or email

Type your colleague's phone number or email and pick their access level. They must already have signed up to Daneshyar; if not, ask them to sign up first.

  3. 3

    Send them the link

Members open the workspace through the workspace link, not from Daneshyar's management pages. Copy the link from Share and send it to them.

  • Can view: can open the workspace and ask questions.
  • Can edit: everything above, plus changing the workspace's content.
  • Remove takes away that person's access; you can add them back any time. The workspace owner cannot be removed. Adding someone who is already a member only changes their access level.
Example: a head nurse gives every nurse on the ward “Can view” so they can ask about protocols, and gives the deputy “Can edit” so they can keep the content up to date.

The public link

Press Share. Each workspace has one link, and its address never changes. One switch decides who can open it:

  • Switch off: only members can get in.
  • Switch on: anyone with the link can ask questions, without signing up.
  • Visitors see answers with their sources, but never see your files themselves and cannot download them.
Example: an online shop uploads its returns and delivery terms, turns the public link on, and puts the link on its “FAQ” page. Customers now get answers straight away.
Members and visitors use the same link. Turning the switch off only shuts out strangers; members can still get in. To remove a member, remove them under Members.

A link for one person

Sometimes you want one person — a customer or a student, say — to have their own chat. In Share, press Create a link for one person. This link always opens that same chat, so the person can carry on later from any phone or computer.

Send this link to that one person only — anyone who opens it can read their chat. Copy it straight away: it is not saved anywhere and is not shown again after you close the window.

Who pays for the questions

  • Questions asked through the public link use your credits.
  • Each member's questions use their own credits.
  • If a link gets a very large number of visits in a short time, visitors are asked to wait a few minutes. This stops misuse; afterwards the link works again.
