Extract and transcribe
Text comes out of PDFs and scans; audio and video are transcribed with timecodes, so a citation can point at a moment, not just a file.
Chunk, embed and index
Content is split into passages and embedded into a vector index, which is what lets a question find the right paragraph instead of the right document.
